Hotel Albris stories

If the day starts with breakfast – ours will make your day!

Eating breakfast is important. It gives you energy to start the day and puts you in a good mood. But you often don't have the time. It's even better when you can have a big breakfast on holiday.

What could be nicer than getting up relaxed and having a leisurely breakfast? Or zmörgele, as we say in Switzerland. At the Hotel Albris we attach great importance to ensuring that you can really enjoy your first meal of the day. You have breakfast in our traditional Swiss pine room, where you can enjoy a beautiful view of the surroundings. At the newly designed buffet you will find everything that makes an Engadine mountain-Zmorga– and a little more.

For example, you can enjoy numerous specialty breads from our in-house bakery. Around 15 varieties are waiting to be discovered: from Kochendörfer bread from the wood-fired oven to Puschlaver ring bread and the rich six-grain bread. There are also around ten different rolls and croissants to choose from, as well as sweet pastries from the patisserie. And if you can't find your favorite bread, just ask us.

You absolutely have to try our jams, which Isabelle Kochendörfer makes herself. Our automatic orange press, which you can operate yourself, is also a highlight. We pay particular attention to fresh preparation and regionality. The cheese comes from the Pontresina dairy, yoghurt and milk from the Lataria Engiadinaisa in Bever, the meat from local butchers.

As rich as the breakfast at the Hotel Albris is, it is often monotonous in everyday life. A quick coffee, a bowl of cornflakes and you're off. For many people, breakfast has to be as quick as possible. Some even skip it altogether or eat a bite on the go. Due to this early morning time pressure, people easily develop the habit of always eating the same thing. Breakfast becomes a constant way to start the day. The monotonous eating becomes a moment of reflection to prepare for the tasks ahead.

It's a shame if these habits are taken on holiday. We hope that you will have some time to enjoy a hearty breakfast at the Hotel Albris. Why not try something new and unusual? Fried egg with bacon instead of jam. Bircher muesli instead of croissants. Pear bread instead of cornflakes. Make yourself comfortable in the Arvensaal, read our morning post and don't forget to tick your choice of dish for dinner.

We hope you enjoy our breakfast buffet. Eat and enjoy as you please. We ask you, however, to only put as much on your plate as you would like to eat. Help us not to waste food. Thank you.

Our motto: As fresh and regional as possible.

What type of breakfast eater are you?

Making the right choice at the buffet is not always easy. We are happy to give tips and take a humorous look at different breakfast plates.

Sporty and sweet

You are in Pontresina to experience and do something. Outside in the fresh air and in the beautiful nature. That's why you need quick energy– preferably in the form of sugar and white flour. You don't treat yourself to anything else. You take a croissant, a light poppy seed roll and plenty of jam, honey– and yes, we also have Nutella. With that, a French crêpe with fine maple syrup. Apple tart? Why not! Fruit juice? Of course! And to finish, a Bircher muesli so that breakfast is nice and filling. Because you still have a lot to do today.

Delicious and hearty

You like to take your time for breakfast. After all, it is the emperor's meal, as the saying goes. First, you get an overview of the buffet offering. Then you make your choice carefully and like to stick to the hearty: potato rolls for that certain something. Soft cheese, hard cheese, but not too much. Instead, two slices of each type of meat and a fried egg with bacon. You have time, the sun is shining all day today. Enjoy your cappuccino and finish with a piece of Bündner pear bread, which you refine with butter.

Healthy and balanced

Even on holiday, make sure you eat a balanced diet. To avoid being tempted by the wide range of options, drink a green tea first. Now your stomach is ready to break the night's fast (breakfast). Start carefully with natural yoghurt and fruit. Then study our special breads and decide on a slice of malt bread and fitness bread. Avoid butter, but treat yourself to a little jam, after all it is homemade. And since the orange juice is freshly squeezed before your eyes, take a glass.
